Icon battling~
05-25-08: CURRENTLY NOT ACCEPTING NEW CHALLENGES~!
I'm involved in a five challenges or so atm and that's pretty much my limit^_- Drop by again after a few weeks and let's see what the situation is then. Take care~!

First of all, I'm superbly glad that the first icon battle here seems to be a success :) Although we both were very nervous about the outcome, now, when the set can be seen as whole, the result looks very neat. *confetti*

And since I'm idiot like that, I asked if there was more people to challenge me, though I'm still in the middle of finishing up round#002 xD Icon-o-holic, yeah, I know. After a while of furious brainstorming, I chose to create a new entry just for the icon battle requests, questions and such. It's easier for me to keep up with all the projects when they're located in one place :)

What is an icon battle?

What are the rules?
lazypenguine asked about it already, so check out the comments to this entry~ The rules are few and adjustable, so battling should be easy to everyone^_^

So. If you want to challenge me, drop a comment here. I'm most likely to accept your duel challenge but it might take some time for me to finish it up if I'm already involved in other challenges. Patience is a virtue, isn't that what they say?^.^

Oh, and since I'm pretty open for any themes, it'd make starting the challenge a bit faster if you could tell me right away your desired subject of challenge :D Preferably, something that suits my interests, because getting images and stuff gets a whole lot more difficult if I have no idea what the chosen fandom is *lol*

	wow, it looks awesome! also, I see you have other "challengers" and I'm insanelly busy too, but I would love to try it! subject? errrr, don't know, something jrock related maybe, since lately I've been concentrating on jpop so it would be cool to try jrock again. Gazette, live shots? That sounds muchos fun! ♥ I haven't properly iconed Gazette in ages :D

Next step: deciding the number of icons per a maker. I made 20 with tokyo_rhapsody and with les_cuki I'm currently battling with 22. But, I'm fine with 10 or 15 too. You can pick the number that suits you best :)

I haven't iconed Gazette in a while, that's why I proposed them. 15 seems cool for me!

I see there's someone that wants to battle three-way. I don't know how to do that actually, because, if I understand correctly the rules, I have to crop the pics for you and you have to crop them for me. If we do it with three I suppose we will have to change those rules...

(I started to choose the pics for when you are ready for it, but due the rules at the gazette comm I took them from I cannot post them anywhere else... I'll send them via mail in a zip or something)

Okay, 15 icons it is^-^ I'll tackle my discs tomorrow to find the seven pictures for the duel (...probable Uruha!overdose ahead *lol*). And I understand, email is fine with me^^ My e-address can be found in the profile.

I'll make the bases for you asap so at least you can start iconing whenever you feel inspired :) I finish what I have started with Leslie and start working with the Gaze ones right away after that~<3 *is getting excited*

I think a duel between three members would look fun and mindtickling when finished and with a little tweaking in rules, a new type of challenge could be easily created. However, this challenge type that I'm promoting is based on the idea of switching the bases, so I'm not quite ready to go for three-way. Instead, I suggested she should request a personal battle with you^_- Hopefully you don't mind~

Yosh! I got my pictures uploaded^__^ Kai got completely overrun... finding decent live shots of drummers is hell *pouts*

WELL! after seeing the pictures you picked I had to do a re-selection because some of them were exactly the same ones I did chose! XD So, here is my selection, it's a link to a zip, I hope none of them is broken or anything.

And here is the link to my crops of the whole selection. I have to warn you, though, that the crops are *not* 100x100 px; I usually do the coloring of the pics in a bigger size so I can see better how it works, as well as a way to control better the sharpness of the picture when I'm reducing the size... I thought maybe it would be better for you too, but all of us have our own tricks so if you don't like it that way you just have to reduce them at 100x100... your choice!

I'm nervous already, *laughs*!

:D I have never even considered working without 100x100 bases, that sure is an interesting idea. I have to give it a try^^ But, thank you for the heads-up: now I was able to leave the bases for you un-resized as well :) A few of them are a bit experimentally cropped, as usual when it comes to me, hopefully they won't be too much of trouble for you~

Gazette sounds delicious♥ I haven't iconed them in awhile :D

Rules are simple and easily adjustable:

#001: pick the fandom (done)
#002: pick the number of icons per a maker
I think any number between 5 to 25 is good :) Mini-challenges can be fun too *lol*
#003: time to choose the pictures!
if the number of icons we're going to make is 20, both of us choose 10 pictures. If the number is something like 5 or 25 that can't be evenly split, I let the challenger choose the extra pic.
#004: the participants make bases of all the chosen pictures to total the number of upcoming icons
#005: the participants switch the bases
You make icons of my bases and I make icons of your bases :)
#006: iconing starts
There're no specific rules to the actual iconing process. If we want, we can always come up with extra rules, like let's say, 'icons must be textless/bnw/include all the people in the picture' (because you can crop the picture any way you want)
#007: sharing the results when both are finished
The first time around, I uploaded all my bases and icons to my PB account and gave tokyo_rhapsody access to it so she didn't have to re-upload my stuff and she did the same thing. However, I don't mind uploading all the bases and icons to my account, so if you feel uncomfortable with me messing around with your PB, you can just .zip your icons and share them that way^_^
#008: posting
You can do the posting the way you want, there's no specific rules to that either as long as all the icons and bases are displayed. You can include links to the original pics too if you want. Crossposting is fine with me of course but in that case I'd like to know if you're doing so beforehand so I won't spam the communities too xD

	since both me and buyitinbacks want to challenge with Gazette, why don't we make it a challenge between 3 of us? I also adore her icons very much so it would be a honor to have a graphic battle with both 2 of you. The rules will be pretty much the same, btw. so, what do you think about that suggestion? Well, basically, I think it could be conducted, but I'm not sure how bottledicons would feel about it. What I am most "worried" about (*lol*) is that the original battle idea is based on the switch of bases, so in the case of three iconers, that wouldn't work too well.

The result would look fun with three people, but I think I'm inclined to say that maybe you should throw her a separate duel challenge? :D That way you could battle with both of us properly^_^

I'm still very interested in that three-way battle and basically it will still stick to the main idea of switching bases to others, in this case we just have to switch our bases around, like: you do her bases, she does mine and I do yours, kind like that. But I guess it would be considered not fair enough for the challengers, ne?

Anyway, since you already started a GazettE challenge with her, I guess I would like to change the fandom (just in case you may get bored doing the same fandom twice ^^;;;) Do you mind if we do Hyde challenge? (since my main fandoms only evolve around GazettE, A9 and probably Hyde, too pathetic, I know T___T ) or you may suggest your favourite subject to the challenge, it'd be more interesting for me then.

*nods* I understand where you're coming from^^ But, if I iconed for example her bases, I wasn't actually battling with you, though there would be three icons in a row in the final post. And I definitely want to have a challenge with both of you. But, the three-battle sounds tempting and we should continue forming the rules for that, so we could try it out at some point.

*lol* Very considerate of you :) But if Gazette is what you want, then, Gazette it is, no need to worry about me^^ Since with bottledicons I'm having a specially themed challenge ("concert pictures"), a normal or differently themed challenge would be fine with me~

But, I love Haido as well♥ And doing another round with a9 wouldn't be painful at all, either xD So, we can use any fandom you're comfortable with, I'm feeling very open-minded today^_^ With Leslie I ended up battling with three fandoms combined in one challenge (we're making 22 icons of which 10 is JE, 3 bis and 3 Pura~), so if you want some diversity, that's one option as well :)

Okay, so, here they are, my picks for the challenge photos :) It took a good hour to choose them-.- JE always knows for trouble. Too many pretty pictures<3

...but OMG SCARY. I didn't know I had saved that many pictures of MatsuJun alone O.o And I don't even really like him (Aiba owns me♥). But, I think I found rather nice shots for our battle^^b

You can find the pictures in a .rar folder here. Imageshack went bitchy on me and TinyPic has never been an option for me (it's asscrazy slow. Furthermore, I find the ridiculous number of clicks you need to see the original image annoying *grr*)

crazy JE, with their 1045610561 pictures of everyone in any place all the time. not that I'm really complaining ^____^

I think Jun is the easiest to find good pictures of when you start out, for whatever reason. I used to have way more of him than anyone else, and I don't really like him more or less than the other guys.
but Aiba. *____* so freakin gorgeous.

augh, so the problem must be with my unzipping software.
I downloaded the .rar, and all 20 bases are in there, but the same two won't extract for some reason -_-
if it's not too much trouble, could you maybe just upload those two to imageshack or lj? they're the bases for the pictures of jun alone and aiba alone.

I just had a look at your bases and I'm so sorry^^;; I guess I've expained the rules a bit badly? *lol* I realised you had only made bases out of my pictures! :D See, the point of the challenge is that both of us icon the same pictures. Thus, to total the twenty icons, you were supposed to make a base per a picture, even of those that you yourself chose :)

Soooo... wanna give it a new try? :P
