Today: Fan art and how it's made! ^o^

Okay, so, this fan art post is a little different from the others. Firstly, because with this post, I'm showing step by step how I sketch and draw, and secondly, because the subject is kinda special~ I read this lovely, lovely fic by seed_inyou called "Written in the Stars" a while ago. The fic is locked, you have to be a member of aliceinloveland in order to read it, but shortly, it's a story about Saga getting shot and the last minutes he can spend with the man he loves. There were a few lines in it that I've been rolling over in my head and finally I just had to draw a little something^___- (dunno really how the writer herself will react 8) hopefully I didn't rape her visions completely *sweat*).

He doesn't much look like Saga, but the original picture that I used for preference was Saga cropped from a group shot... So, I say, Saga fan art this is XD;

Lately, the idiotic boyfriend-related stress got out through this art piece and it probably shows. Firstly, the whole time, I kept changing the picture until it looked like... oddly, how I felt. Secondly, why I started drawing this, was because his posture appealed strongly to me, especially the loosely folded arms, as if he's covering a hole after a blow. Therapy session, yes.

And if you're wondering why the picture leaves you a bit uneasy, it is because there's practically no mouth on his face :) "I'm sorry for your worry", yeah.

SO, DEDICATED TO THAT JERK BOYFRIEND OF MINE. BE HAPPY. I sure am~

My sis informed the layout's background color looks a little funny with her screen options D: It's supposed to be dark, brown-ish.. peach. Something like that. She sees is chocolate brown what the hell *cries* Hopefully it's just her and her retarded old screen.

I wanted to have something strongly Tatsurou emphasized but that gorgeus shot of Satochi haunted my heart and eventually, ended up building the header around him~

This is something I've wanted to do for some time now; a guided tour to Deviantart's finest jrock pieces&galleries ♥

Sometimes it seems finding "proper" fan art is nearly impossible, at least if you're browsing around in Livejournal. I admit it -LJ doesn't serve fan artists well. Finding off-site hosts, crossposting, creating tags and directories... so, it isn't any wonder that Deviantart, a site that has been designed for artists' needs, attracts people more.

I have an account there too, I just never got around uploading anything there. But, I visit the site frequently, every time getting stuck there for hours and hours and hours... Damn, it's one hecka addictive complex of galleries^__^~<3

If you have an account, go and comment, since what artist needs the most is feedback, love, support, criticism, thoughts... anything you can give^_-

The chosen galleries represent very different styles -I've picked lighter, cuter pieces drawn in manga-influenced style, but mainly, because that's where my personal interests lie, I come bearing examples of strong, dark, photo-realistic usage of shadow, light and lines.

Hopefully you'll enjoy, and maybe you'll find something that will leave a small imprint on your heart :)

In September I offered to compose fan art for the ten lucky ones to comment on the request post first. Now, almost 6 months later(!) I come bearing the first finished piece for the meme. I'm sorry for the wait; life has been... well, life. *sighs*

But, mainly, the delay is due to the fact that I started of with a difficult, detailed color pencil work. From now on, the requested pieces will be made in a simplistic, black'n'white style -no a drawing before has both mentally and physically tired me this much. When I started to work with the requested stuff, I decided to kick the meme off with something familiar to me. I thought alinkie's req was perfect for that because I love alice nine and I had previously tried my skills on them (Tora and Saga, though, but whatever *lol*).

Then, I got a biiiiit carried away and started creating this madness that's finally finished and can be seen behind the cut. The picture wasn't supposed to turn out that rich and colorful, but eventually did, and as for a person who rarely uses colors, like me, it became quite a hell *moans*

Well, anyway. Alina, and the others, hopefully the picture pleases you^.^ I'm quite satisfied with it personally~<3

Ush! This is the mighty review entry of the year 2007! Before I post my new goodies (yes, I'm on graphic-making spree~), let's rewind together how the last year was here at BCL's :)

ITAI. It was rather painful to go through all that old stuff ;__; I should re-make like half of the icons I've ever posted. Awkward. How is it possible this journal has 80 viewers? 50 of them before September?

Uh, the journey has been long and stressful.. but, lately the work has started to carry fruit^^ after I switched from PSP to PS, my graphics have changed tremendeously. Also, lately I've been expanding my fandom list like crazy and tried out other things than iconing, too, like screencapping, and writing entries titled "SRZ BUSINEZ". Wow, it's actually finished :D Somehow I thought I'd never get the second part made.. that's usually what happens when I'm planning making series -I get bored after the first drawing or the other drawings fail miserably, leaving the opening picture as an "one-shot" *lol*

The first part has been re-photographed for my sanity. I really hated the "original" shots.
As always, comments from people out of fandom is priceless. Katja deserves lots of love from me, since she handled all my hysteric screams quite well. Without her telling the guys look like humans the pictures wouldn't look as good as they do. (Sometimes it's just enough the drawing looks like the guy it tries to depict -screw the anatomy and stuff ^^')

At first I thought it'd be enough if I shared the pictures and the lyrics of Gekkou. I know the number of people who willingly read my long rants is rather small, not to mention the fact that most of the time I have no idea how to explain my motives and emotions properly the way my hand feels them when I'm drawing. I loose the track of thought, drifting further and further from the original goals.. finally telling about my latest meal when I should be depicting some color changes. However, since this project has been bothering my peace of mind so long so stubbornly, I needed to let it all out. The text behind the cut is more like for me than for you. It's about me sorting out my thoughts concerning this and the future pictures of the series. If you want to skip it, go ahead, no need to think I'd be deeply hurt^__-

For those who want to try reading "Ceasing in the Sun" on their own:

"The Beautiful Ones" was mainly based on feelings, questions, confusion.. lots of abstract things. It was tightly tied to this moment, to present. It was one moment, one troubled, melancholy moment. "Ceasing in the Sun" could be described as.. a story. Or, an illustration to a story. When I started off making these two, I was pretty lost -I knew the direction I wanted to go for, I knew the overall shades and tones, but I really didn't have a POV or anything until my darling sister Paula sat down and helped me building the background. I'm really thankful to her -she came up with some marvelous ideas. Not all of them made the cut, but I stored them into my mind for future usage. ILU<3
So, what you will read next is close to fanfiction. If I knew how to write, I would re-form our ideas and make it a some sort of one-shot. But, since I'm not much of a writer, I'm leaving that noble art form for others. I'm telling you this because I don't want you to look for anything superbly symbolic or clever. "Ceasing in the Sun" is, to say it simply, a study of my own fangirlism, and, of course, a love story. Enjoy~

My tummy hurts *in pain*

I was about to go and get some sleep&pain killers but since Imageshack didn't go all bitchy on me, I thought I should post these before my luck changes^_^

The first one is the greatly gushed AoixUru picture the people on my other flist have already seen, and the second one is about no one else but Mr Selfish Love himself.

These pictures are both A2, pretty big, to say in other words. Scanning them would've been impossible, so lightly picture manipulated photographs will do. Uruha is slightly greenish, just ignore it, okay?^^ I blended two photos into one there and for some reason the Uru one refused to change its color despite all the photo-fixing tools I put it through.

l_van -once I promised I'd dedicate a picture for you and here it is; the Miyavi one is for you and lapsusxlinguae, my super commenters who never fail to make me feel special! You're the spine of this journal :D

This is quite different from the previous fan art post of mine. This is a normal portrait -I used to draw a lot with this "classy" style. I don't have time anymore to concentrate on drawing as much as I used to have... sad. I started this in November 2006 and today I finally sprayed some fixative on it :)

So, my sister got her camera working (yay!) so finally I was able to take pictures of my new drawings/paintings.

You know how I love to rant about my art works? Well, this time I'm leaving all the speculations for you. My head has been overflowing with thoughts lately, and all in all my life has been quite a mess. One night I was sitting on my floor, listening to some music and staring at my sketch pad. And I started to sketch. That night turned out to be one of the most creative ones I have ever had. I just sat and draw and played CDs. For me, these pictures represent many (personal?) things, but they're all tightly connected to the songs which inspired me. I named the drawings after the songs, but I'm not giving them out yet. I'd like to see how many of you can recognise the songs behind the works of art (<-"works of art", pft, seriously no ^_____^).

These are very dear to me and I'm not selling these specific ones, but since I am a poor student, I'm always ready to draw/paint stuff for others. I try to keep the costs as small as possible, and I'd be willing to pay the shipping costs. I don't know, maybe there are people out there who would like to get a goofy, definitely unique art on their walls -drop a comment and I give more details :)

EDIT 3.2.2007: The second one is a photograph. Now the stripe is gone, but I had to increase the amount of light in it with the help of PSP. They're a little different from each other :) Thanks buuberry for your piece of advice concerning digital photography<3

What: a piece of art inspired by Milo Ventimiglia/Alexis Bledel and Dima Bilan

Story behind the picture: I ran into these two amazing photos of Milo and Alexis when I was randomly surfing in GG-sites. Originally I was going to look for something pretty for a L/L-pic but instead of that I got lost in a great Italian J/R-site. I went through the photoshoots of Milo and Alexis. At first I saw the pic of Alexis and when I browsed through the photoshoots of Milo and saw Zink magazine outtakes.. Wow. I was surprised -the pics aren't from a same photoshoot but still, they seem to belong together. The mood, the lightning, everything works so well when you put these two together. I've been listening to Russian pop a lot lately and when I was looking at the images one song started to play inside my head -Not That Simple (Ti dolzhna Ryadom Byt) by Dima Bilan. The story of the song is so similar to the mood of the images. I took my pencils and started to draw. Almost 48 hours of drawing, my back hurts like hell.. But here it is. ^^ It's finished, it's pretty and it's a little more than just a copy of the original photographs.

I have to warn you though -the word "inspired" is there for a reason. The pics aren't initially too big and after PSP and printing they were quite blurry. I didn't try to draw Milo and Alexis, I just took the mood, poses and light out of the pics. Of course there's something that reminds you of the two young stars, but I just wanted to draw a beautiful girl and a handsome boy, and I guess I succeeded in that. :)

The pic is twice as big as my scanner so I had to scan it in three pieces and build up with the help of PSP. The red stripes suffered in this process so I fixed them up with PSP tools. That's why you can't see the text properly. In the original drawing the shadows on the floor and on the wall and the window behind the guy can are stronger.

Feedback would be nice, especially if you aren't a fan of Gilmore Girls or Alexis/Milo. I'd love to hear if the drawing works out of the context or not. ^^

[ Mood | Annoyed ]

Yay, sme Lost-art this time! How fun is that? ^^

So, Lost started off here in Finland around 12 weeks ago. I was so excited 'cause now, finally, the others could understand why I've been gushing over it for so long. I wanted to celebrate it and after Pilot vol.1 I took my pencils and drew something simple. It's not a new mona lisa or anything, it's just something peanutbutterish, but hopefully you're gonna enjoy. :)
